The History & Now

Starting life in 1909 as the Imperial Hotel, the Thunderbolt Inn is an historic Victorian style hotel situated in the center of Uralla, at the corner of the New England Highway and Thunderbolt's Way.

The hotel received the name in 1970, on the anniversary of the death of the gentleman bushranger, Captain Thunderbolt, who ruled the highways and byways of the New England district during the 1860s. In 2022 and under new ownership and after undergoing renovation the Hotel name was shortened to The Bolt Inn.

The Bolt Inn has preserved the charm and history of the establishment and is renowned for its warm hospitality and rich local heritage. Situated in the heart of this picturesque town, The Bolt Inn offers a cozy atmosphere with its beautiful architecture and inviting interiors. Our newly refurbished accommodation is now open and our pub renovations are almost at completion; offering an authentic and welcoming "eat, drink, stay and play" experience in Uralla!
